Who is Web3 Watcher?

This channel is for readers interested in all things that consist of…

Web3 (the next world wide web built on/with blockchain technology),

Blockchain (a publicly accessible, digitally encrypted, decentralized ledger),

Crypto (currency exchanged on blockchain),

NFT’s (verified digital assets on the blockchain),

Metaverses (virtual worlds),

DeFi (decentralized finance on the blockchain).

As Web3 Watcher, I observe and reflect on the cultural paradigms that technology creates. Innovation can exist, but growth requires a certain relationship between the market makers and consumers in order to gain mass adoption; a cohesive one to say the least.

My goal is to be intellectual and intuitive, pulling from academic training in literature, rhetoric, and history, as well as drawing meaning from personal experience. I have freelance experience writing technical documents for metaverse and cybersecurity Web3 brands, so I can filter dense information into easy-to-digest content. Instead of researching and writing for some other entity, I felt it was necessary to give my voice an outlet.

Let me be clear: I follow crypto, NFT, and metaverse projects for fun. I critique everything simply as a way of understanding the world on a dynamic level. I will share my personal opinions, but they should be taken as a grain of salt, because I do not profess to be an expert or a scholar on the subjects of Web3 & humanity. I claim to ethically observe and reflect my observations. Any connections I make along the way are not endorsements. Even though I will do my best to present non-biased reflections, I am human and in order to be a critical thinker, you should assume that I have an agenda, whether you agree with my conclusions or not.

Also, nothing I say is financial advice, nor is it any advice on how to manage your personal digital assets. Most of what I write about comes from direct observation on what I consider to be a ground level approach to studying a cultural mindset and the catalysts that inspire a movement. I prefer a qualitative approach to most things in life, requiring not only observation and reflection, but a deep introspection is a key part of the process. This way, the more aware I am about myself, the more I can relate to other people and help them express themselves about the same topics. Communication is essential for progress.

I tend to explore the highlights and follies of our human nature. Psychological factors come into play of course, and I tend to notice coordinated efforts to manipulate groups of people into thinking one way, or believing something, and furthermore acting on it.

The purpose of Web3 Watcher is to help my readers become more aware about the trends, the factors that control the trends, the narratives, and themselves. I’m curious as to how much of the real world will translate into the virtual world as well as the opposite. How much of our lives will the virtual world consume? What are the pitfalls, if any? How can people be empowered, or will they? All of these questions and topics will be explored on this channel.

One thing I’m excited about is the topic of entertainment in the metaverse. Practically everything is becoming gamified, and I hope to bring clarification on how new concepts are implemented, and the implications that come with certain innovations by proxy. For instance, new tech requires new education, dumbed down for the average person to understand, as well as new safety precautions to consider. “On-boarding,” which is simply helping someone enter Web3, centers around education & security.

The value I plan to bring to my readers consists of forward-looking guidance, a term that I became familiar with in 2020, used heavily by big corporations to focus their investors on the future rather than any past misdoings. I will point out the strategies used by Web2 businesses who plan to migrate into Web3.

As for NFT’s, I am not a trader, but I do own about 20 or so — nothing major, just projects or artists I personally like. NFT communities consist of creatives, artists, designers, developers, and entrepreneurs who all generally seem to take responsibility towards leadership. They want to educate and onboard and steward people into Web3, preferably by way of their project, but none the less in a helpful and productive fashion.

Adjacent to education, security is a big issue that I will touch on. Security is a big deal for a few reasons. It deters people from Web3 and NFT’s who know they are not educated enough to navigate Web3 safely. Improper security, or not enough security measures taken, can compromise an entire community. Security in itself is a form of education and is highly important for longevity in the foreseeable blockchain future.

In conclusion, I want this to be fun and informative for my readers. I will do my best to bring quality and clarity to the Web3 cultural movement and the communities coming together to make up the different sectors of Web3. Journey with me, if you will, as a spectator riding on the virtual roller coaster known as blockchain, through the wild world of Web3.
